Many significant Polish artists from older generation were invited to take part in the exhibition. The exhibition took place in The City Art Gallery in Lodz, and was curated by the president of Polish  Fine Artists Association Jacek Kucaba.

We are honored to invite you to the exhibition 40/30 18+,  presenting the watercolour paintings created during the last three years. The event is taking place in Gologorski Gallery, Krakow.
The exhibition also marks the ending  of Marian Gołogórski’s artistic jubilee and will last from 25.01.2014 until 25.02.2014

40/30 18+ is a jubilee exhibition. The first number is to celebrate 40 years of Marian Gołogórski's artistic career. The second number celebrates 30 years of Gologorski Gallery's existence. You can find more about the jubilee here.

In 2011, Marian Gołogórski turned to another artistic technique – watercolors.
Over 80 masterpieces were created from 2011 to 2013. All of them were drawn and painted in Gologorski Gallery in 40 x 30 cm format. They are mostly focused on human body in its natural beauty and expressive form. Still, for some they might look inappropriate, hence the name 18+.

"Marian Gołogórski 40/30" retrospective album

For quite  a long time, Gologorski Gallery blog hasn’t been updated. During that time we were busy working on Marian Gologorski’s artistic album. We’ve collected lots of archival materials from all these years of artistic and curatorial activity of Marian Gołogórski and his gallery. It’s also a very interesting documentation of social and cultural life in Krakow during 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. The album Marian Gołogórski 40/30 has been finished, and it’s absolutely stunning! That publication links a beautiful, very personal essay by Marian Gołogórski, and many fantastic photos from his private archives. We’re going to show it to you step by step, but we will also be publishing even more materials than those selected for this publication. So join us, and let’s make a journey to the past together.

ARTADVISOR | Zbysław Marek Maciejewski

Zbysław Marek Maciejewski studied painting in Wacław Taranczewski’s workshop in the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. A few years later, as a fully-educated painter, he started leading his own workshop in the same Academy.

Speaking of his artistic way, Maciejewski’s lifetime could be divided into two parts, considering the changes in his artistic expression.

Zbysław Maciejewski | Untitled | drawing on paper

The first period is characteristic for the author’s evident fascination with his own personality and sexuality, but also with his own ironic point of view about the world and people in general. Maciejewski was very witty and had a cruel sense of humor, sometimes up to the point of being sarcastic. He didn’t like unintelligent women, and he made fun of them and mocked at them in his works. That’s easily noticeable in his drawings. At the same time, he adored smart women – those who knew how to face his talent and intellect. That being said, the truth was that, most of all, Maciejewski loved men. They were his main fascination and inspiration and a dominant subject of his paintings and drawings.

ARTCHAT | How it all began? A retrospective

At the beginning, there was a gift. As a little child, Marian Gołogórski very often modeled small forms and figures for fun. Creating own child's world, using plasticin and modeling clay, he was making first steps towards something that turned out to be his life-long passion and profession. There is an interestng anecdote from an early period of Marian Gołogórski's childhood. That's how he talks about this:

The good friend of my parents, Ms. Eugenia Hejmanowa-Olejnik, who was a Jewish survivor from the Holocaust, worked for Polish Radio. When I was 6 years old, she took three small and charming figures of "Plastuś" (polish children's book character) I made in plasticin. Eugenia passed my little sculptures to the editor's office of Polish Radio in Warsaw. After a couple of days, a very well known Polish actress, Irena Kwiatkowska, who performed the role of Plastuś in the radio programme for children, said "thank you, little Marianek Gołogórski for sending the beautiful figures of Plastuś".

We can say that it was his first success in the artistic field. Surely the most unexpected.

As time went by, Gologorski became a teenager, and had to make a decision about his future. Because he was still passionate with sculpture, he decided to leave Piotrków Trybunalski (a small Polish city) and start artistic education in one of Polish bigger cities. And so, Marian, as a seventeen years old boy became a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow.
